Applying Eye Makeup
I am frequently asked how I apply my eye makeup to make my eyes pop!
Here are a few techniques that I learned many years ago when I began my career with Estee Lauder.
Remember, your eyes are the window to your soul, make them be the first thing people notice on you!
I am a firm believer in eyeliner, it makes your eyes pop!
I prefer the liquid liner (I use Artliner by Lancome – smoke for day; black for evening).
Pencil liner tends to smear easily, liquid dries in place and does not smear!
Start with the interior corner of your eye on your upper lid and follow along your lid as close to your eyelashes as possible. In theory, you don’t want any space between the liner and your lashes. Repeat this on your lower lid.
Mascara, Mascara, Mascara!!
Have you ever been asked if you were stuck on a desert island, what one item of makeup would you want??
Mascara!
Can’t live without it!
I start with Mascara Primer. I believe primer coats your lashes beautifully and helps the mascara adhere to your lashes. I use Chanel Primer but Lancome Primer is also excellent.
I love mascara so much I use two different types!
First, you want to lengthen the lashes, so I begin with Lancome Definicils Lengthening Mascara. I apply 3-4 coats allowing each coat to dry.
Secondly, I like to use a voluminizing Mascara such as Chanel Volume to give my lashes thickness and volume on top of the length.
Lastly, I apply my shadow.
I start at the interior corner of the eye and form an arch over my eyelid. Then, with my eyeshadow brush, I form a triangle in the exterior corner of my eye (see photo) between the end of the arch of shadow and the end of the eye. This technique draws the eyelid up making your eye look bigger and wider.
