SUMMARY:Ship and Shore Festival\, New Buffalo MI
DESCRIPTION:The New Buffalo Ship & Shore Festival began as small arts and crafts fair 30 years ago and has evolved into a summertime tradition in downtown New Buffalo. \nWhittaker Street\, which cuts through the heart of downtown New Buffalo\, will be closed to vehicles but opened up to everyone in the community for arts\, crafts\, games\, live music\, and more. You can browse artwork from dozens of local artisans and crafters\, or sample locally produced micro-brews at the beer tents. Wines from nearby Round Barn Winery are perfect complements to the mouthwatering dishes prepared by our own local restaurants offering a wide range of cuisines from Mexican to Italian to Asian! \nKid-friendly events on Saturday and Sunday (August 8-10\, 2014) include ice cream eating contests(Saturday 1pm) watermelon-eating contests(Sunday 1pm.) Games for all ages! \nA 5K run are also planned for Saturday\, August 9\, 2014. Start time is 8am. \nDespite all the great daytime activities\, the real highlights of the New Buffalo Ship & Shore Festival occur after dusk. Saturday evening’s hightlight is the annual Lighted Boat Parade where participants transform their pleasure boats\, cruisers\, and yachts into floating creations that you have to see to believe. Our 2008 parade winner turned his 36-foot fishing boat into a floating Las Vegas – even Elvis made an appearance! Fireworks immediately follow the parade – lighting up the night sky and capping off a great summer weekend. \nA donation of $5 is suggested for admission. \nJoin us Friday – Sunday\, August 8-10\, 2014. \nLIVE MUSIC: \nFriday – check back for full schedule! \nSaturday – check back for full schedule! \nSunday – check back for full schedule! \nFor more information:\nhttp://www.newbuffalo.org/events/ship-and-shore-festival-2014.html \n
